Abstract

Cultural tourism has increasingly become a preferred non-standard type of tourism in Europe over the last decade. The various forms of cultural tourism diversify the tourist product and attract the most desirable type of tourists, i.e. those who are more intelligent, high spending, and demanding. The modern concept of cultural tourism development covers, in addition to a country’s heritage and museums, special events, festivals, and attractions. Is it possible (and how) for Bulgarian cultural tourism to attract more visitors and loyal tourists to the country through its cultural calendar, special events, and attractions?
