Abstract

n urban, Ethiopia is moving forward to combat unemployment by injecting small and micro enterprises. The focus is emerged from the increasing unemployment problem. The objective of this study is, therefore, to identify factors that contribute to the employment creation of small and micro enterprises and the determinants that affect job creation in small and micro enterprises in Woldiya district. The study used both a survey, key informant discussion and observation methods and 140 enterprises were surveyed for the study The Study made use of both primary and secondary data. Data analysis was done using descriptive statistics and a multiple linear regression methods. The multiple regression results showed that continuous training, working space infrastructure availability, diversification and age of the owner are positively related with employment creation at 1%, 1%, 5%, 5% and 5% respectively. The enterprise size was found significant at less than 1% significant level correlated negatively.
