Abstract
The article presents an overview of competencies (rights and duties) of private security guards in the Republic of Bulgaria as envisaged by law and discusses key implementation issues. The nature and different types of competencies of private security guards are analyses against the background of the legal and organizational aspects of their implementation and measures for improvement are suggested.
