Abstract
Almalech, Mony. Different kinds of rain in the Old Testament.
The Hebrew and the Bulgarian texts of Deuteronomy, 32:2 are compared. Symbolically the rain is the monotheistic doctrine, and the tender herbs and the grasses are the people-pupils. The author finds differences in different translations based on the linguistic relativity at Indo-European and Semitic languages. The Hebrew words for different kinds of rain are represented by their verse`s and root semantics. An important Hebrew word for rain misses in Deuteronomy, 32:2. According to the author such absence is an important sign at Bible`s micro and macro `theme-focus structure`.
