Bulgarian Participations in the Venice Biennale in 1942, 1948 and 1964

Abstract

The article presents three Bulgarian participations in the Venice Biennale:in 1942 in the conditions of Italian fascism, and in 1948 and 1964 during the communist rule in Bulgaria. The main interest is focused on the impact of the political conjuncture on the selection of the Bulgarian collections and their connections with or isolation from the general characteristics of the three editions of the art forum.

Статията представя три български участия във Венецианското
биенале: през 1942 г. – в условията на италианския фашизъм, и през 1948 и 1964 г. – по време на комунистическото управление в България. Основният интерес е фокусиран върху влиянието на политическата конюнктура относно селекциите за българското участие, както и върху връзките и различията на
колекциите от България спрямо новите тенденции в трите издания на арт форума.
