Abstract
F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “Babylon Revisited”: The paper uncovers the different aspects of one of the most significant short stories in American literature (which positively ranks high among Fitzgerald’s works as well). “Babylon Revisited” vocalizes ideas, motives, symbols within the framework of important humane values: love, responsibility, fatherhood, resistance to a revengeful past, coming back, justified confidence in the future. The true depth of the short story is revealed by means of thorough analytical insights.
Key words: contemporary Babylon, Charlie Wales and his love for Honoria, Charlie and his feelings for Helen, responsibility, Charlie-Marion relations, ghosts out of the past, the clash between the past and the present in terms of hopes for the future, coming back to the person you love
