Abstract

When CAD systems first appeared on the fashion scene, very few people in the fashion business adopted this new method of work. However, the fast-changing conditions forced both designers and manufacturers to react flexibly, responding to the new market requirements. Nowadays, computers make possible the quick and quality response to the needs of fashion and textile designers, constructors and modellers of the fashion industry in general. Automated design and manufacturing systems (CAD/CAM) are among the wide range of computer tools, used in the complete process of creating a particular product - from the concept design, through the detailed cut, to an optimized production. Today, we already witness computer simulated garments and 3D virtual design, but the beginning remains the most difficult.
