Abstract
The following article is focused on the development of a multidisciplinary approach to study communication. It considers Martin Buber’s reflections as a chapter of language philosophy, and is concerned about the “third modality” a language exists in, that of language as a spoken word (as quoted from Buber).
The author touches upon Buber’s position from the point of view of existential philosophy, esp. to be referred here by Heidegger and Jaspers’ hermeneutic turns. His philosophical intent is focused on the unlocking of three key issues. The first one is to disrupt philosophically the “neo-positivistically frozen” framework of dealing with social psychology of communication as an interactional multichannel system. The second one is to “bridge” the abyss between two analytical traditions (social psychology and existential philosophy) fundamentally different in their attitude, “perfectly living without each other” in their “enchanted castles”. And the third issue, which is the author’s final objective, is in case it proves possible to “get them out” of theirs castles to extract the essentials of the neo-positivist “invisible college” of Palo Alto along with the Eastern and Western Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institutes to design a broader philosophical framework.
